Saliva
Since the late 1950s, we have learned that saliva can contain traces of a disease far from the mouth1.
For the past ten years, liquid biopsies have become increasingly popular because of their non-invasive nature. Of all the accessible liquids, saliva is by far the easiest to collect. It is also the easiest to transport, even over long distances2,3.
We now know that it contains a wealth of molecular information that can be accessed through a combination of NGS techniques and Artificial Intelligence.
We also know that this information is relevant to many diseases and conditions and that beyond early diagnosis, saliva can provide information on individual risk of developing disease, disease progression or therapeutic response, all in a simple, rapid and non-invasive method4.
